The response to four membership sign-ups was overwhelming. After Memorial Day, people continued to join the pool, even into late July. A total of 238 memberships (singles and families) supported the pool. Each membership included two guest passes to be used for non-Woodlake friends or family accompanied by the sponsor. Grandchildren visiting were always welcomed. It must be noted that there were many who joined the pool to express their support even if they did not regularly utilize the pool – kudos to those supporters. With membership applications, a master list was built (thank you Barbara Misiaszek), a mass email was created, and lots of labor/hours were expended in making and distributing badges.
Woodlake has about 750 homes, with renters comprising near 30%; consequently, approximately 31% of households supported the pool. Of note this is the first-time renters have been openly welcome to join the pool and they accounted for 22% of the memberships.
Members were asked to sign an application form, a “no harms release” form, and received a copy of the 2019 Rules and Regulations. At the four registrations, volunteers were recruited, who served in many roles during the season.
